Annual Open Bowls Tournament - Success for Wroughton in Cornwall

The 74th St Austell & District Annual Open Bowls Tournament was held this week at St Austell B.C.
The tournament was opened on 31st July by Bowls Cornwall President, Michael Jennings. Despite the unseasonal Cornish weather, 54 hopeful competitors took to the rinks and over the next 6 days, battled it out for victory in the Open Singles, Singles Plate, Set Singles, Pairs & Mixed Triples.
Wroughton's Sue Fletcher had a great week, winning all the rounds against some stiff competition to take home the title in the Set Singles, and becoming the first women to make it to the open singles final.
Next year's tournament will be held from 30th July to 4th August 2024.
